education, creative growth, and original
artwork development through our dedicated
residency program. We showcase artistic
creations within our gallery and offer curated
artworks for sale in our onsite shop.
Meet our Directors
Founder's Profile
Selina Chen
Selina Chen (Chen Ziying) is a graduate of the prestigious Central Saint Martins (CSM ) in London, where she studied Jewelry Design. She further honed her craft in
ceramics and glass at Sheridan College in Toronto.
Beyond her experience designing the debut collection for the conceptual jewelry
brand 'Department', she later served as a Furniture and Soft Furnishings Designer at GBD Interior Design Company in Guangzhou, accumulating substantial product
design expertise.
She currently operates and manages three interconnected artistic ventures in
Jingdezhen: Nanac Ceramic Studio, the Nanac Curiosity Art Select Shop, and the
Kilnroom International Residency. These spaces function collaboratively as a
multifaceted arts hub, integrating creation, curation, education, and collection.
Matt Watterson
Matt Watterson is an artist from Columbus, Ohio, USA, who graduated from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He now lives and works in Jingdezhen, China.
Beyond ceramic design, Matt is dedicated to his artistic practice in ceramic
sculpture, mixed-media sculpture, and large-scale installations. He possesses
extensive experience in creating large-scale public outdoor installations, as well as in art handling and exhibition management. His work has been exhibited and sold internationally and has been featured in touring exhibitions across
countries including China, Thailand, and the United States.
Since 2024, he has founded and operates Kilnroom International Residency,
committed to advancing Sino-American ceramic art education and cultural
exchange.
